Who this is for
This page is for directors of small limited companies in and around Birmingham, whether you have just incorporated your first company, moved across from being a sole trader, or run an established owner-managed business with a handful of staff. If you are the person responsible for making sure the accounts are filed, the Corporation Tax is paid and the dividend paperwork exists, you are who we have in mind. It suits directors who would rather understand their numbers than be handed a set of accounts once a year with no explanation.
How we help limited companies
We take on the recurring compliance that a company generates and keep it running to a predictable timetable. That covers your annual company accounts and the Corporation Tax within your Company Tax Return, plus the Companies House filings that keep the register up to date. Underneath that, we can keep the bookkeeping tidy so the year-end is not a scramble, run VAT returns where you are registered, and operate payroll and auto-enrolment for director and staff pay. We also keep clean records of your salary and dividends so the split you have chosen is properly documented.

Common questions we hear
Directors often come to us unsure where the line sits between what the company owes and what they owe personally, or worried they have taken dividends without the right paperwork behind them. Others simply want one point of contact who knows both the company and their own Self Assessment position. We are happy to start by untangling the current picture (what has been filed, what is outstanding and what the next deadlines are) before agreeing how we work together.
Serving Birmingham and the Midlands
We support company directors right across Birmingham and the wider Midlands, working through cloud accounting software so you can share records and approve accounts without printing or posting anything. Wherever you are based in the region, the day-to-day works the same, and we can arrange a call or meeting when something needs talking through.
Common questions
What's the difference between my company's accounts and its Corporation Tax return?
They are two separate filings that draw on the same figures. The annual accounts go to Companies House and, in a fuller form, to HMRC, while the Company Tax Return calculates the Corporation Tax the company owes. We prepare both together so they reconcile, and we tell you what each one costs and when it is due.
Should I pay myself in salary or dividends?
Most owner-directors take a mix, but the right balance depends on your company's profits, your other income and what the company can lawfully distribute. Dividends can only be paid from retained profit and need proper paperwork. We keep the records straight and talk through the options rather than applying a one-size answer.
What happens if I miss a Companies House or Corporation Tax deadline?
Late filing at Companies House brings automatic penalties that rise the longer accounts are outstanding, and HMRC has its own penalties and interest for a late return or payment. We track the dates for you and work to a timetable that leaves room to review everything before anything is filed.
My company is small and dormant this year. Do I still have to file?
Usually yes. Even a dormant company generally has to file accounts at Companies House and keep HMRC informed of its position. The obligations are lighter, but they do not disappear. We confirm what applies to your company and handle the filings so nothing lapses by accident.
Do I need to register the company for VAT?
Only once your taxable turnover reaches the registration threshold, though some companies register voluntarily before then. Whether that helps depends on your customers and costs. We monitor your turnover, flag when registration is approaching and set up the returns if and when it makes sense.
